The need for a national, 24/7/365 disaster crisis line goes as far back as the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Hurricane Katrina, and the Gulf Coast Oil Spill. So on February 28th, 2012, Vibrant Emotional Health launched the national Disaster Distress Helpline with funding from the U.S. Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and every year since has supported thousands of people struggling after disaster.
